On the 10 March 2023, Thua Thien Hue Department of Foreign Affairs (DOFA), in collaboration with Norwegian People Aid Vietnam successfully conducted the Workshop on the Mine Action Database Unit of Thua Thien Hue province (Hue DBU). The workshop aimed to officially introduce the DBU and new coordination model to all relevant provincial authorities in Hue. Other stakeholders attending was Quang Binh and Quang Tri DOFA, as well as Vietnam National Mine Action Center, Quang Tri Mine Action Center, Quang Binh Database and Coordination Unit, Peace Trees, Mines Advisory Group, Catholic Relief Service, and the media.

On 10 January 2023, Norwegian People’s Aid in Vietnam was honored to receive a visit from His Excellency Mr. Marc E. Knapper, the United States of America Ambassador in Vietnam. The visit also included a delegation of American war veterans and other USA embassy staff, all traveling to visit NPA in A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province.

On 3 November 2022, NPA Vietnam’s multi-skilled team in Thua Thien Hue province safely disposed of three old wartime aerial bombs, with a total weight of more than 560kg. Days of torrential rain had exposed these bombs in A Luoi and Quang Dien districts. Responding to three emergency “hotline EOD spot task” calls made by different local people, the team transported these three bombs to the NPA Thua Thien Hue central demolition site, following a risk assessment which concluded that they were safe to move. With the mobile bomb cutting system NPA use in Vietnam, all three bombs were cut open after the team utilizes the modern X-ray system to identify/verify the type and position of the fuse. The explosives were then burnt out and the remaining metal was further disposed of separately.
